Where do you live? Verona

When did you move there? Before my husband I were married, 31 years ago

How do you make a living? I am a co-owner of JaiPure Yoga, located on Bloomfield Avenue in the heart of Montclair. I am blessed that my work is also my passion. I love connecting with people on a spiritual level as well as an everyday level. JaiPure offers many different styles/types of yoga 7 days a week. Come check us out!

Coffee, tea or….? Tea with soy creamer in the morning and decaf coffee with cream from Dunkin in the afternoon. Nothing fancy for me. If I’m meeting a friend, I’ll splurge and go to Java Love for a London Fog with soy milk. I like to mix it up.

What’s your idea of a perfect weekend day? Blue skies, exercise in the morning, boat (on Lake Champlain) in the afternoon with friends, and potluck in the afternoon — of course with family (4 kids, husband, dog) and friends.

What’s your favorite local restaurant? We love Zeugma. Since so many in our family have different eating habits (veggie, gluten free, vegan) this seems to fit the bill. Their hummus is amazing!

What’s on your nightstand? Lots and lots of books. Some yogic texts (Bhagavad Gita), some science books. ie: Why We Sleep and the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

What are you listening to? I am not a podcast person. I’ll listen to the radio in the car but I walk a lot in silence. It’s best for my soul.

What are your current indulgences? Books and leggings for teaching yoga

What talent would you most like to have? I would not call it a talent, but I would love to be enlightened.

What’s the worst kept (or best kept) secret about Montclair? My church, Union Congregational on Cooper Avenue in Upper Montclair. It’s an open and affirming church that is passionate about creating community and working hard to adapt, adjust, and accommodate so we can get there. It’s a wonderful community that has truly embraced social justice and the need to love and help others.

What do you hope they say about you at your funeral? That I walked the walk, and talked the talk about leading a life that was compassionate and helped others. That I laughed, had fun, and did not take myself too seriously. That I loved my family unconditionally…
