A major fire was reported in a plastic godown at a furniture wala market in Jogeshwari (West) , Mumbai, on Friday around 1pm.
According to Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services officials, at least 25 people sustained minor injuries in the incident. Some sustained minor cuts and a few got head injuries during evacuation, said an official.
Six ambulances are currently at the spot providing first aid to those injured in the fire. “Those injured were only in need of first aid,” said a health official at the spot.
Fire brigade officials said they got a call around 1pm and have sent 12 fire engines and five fire tankers to the spot. Officials were trying to bring the fire under control. The exact cause of fire is till unclear.
Mumbai police said, “Fire tenders are on the job and more have been called for. Police officers and policemen are at the spot.”
Around 500 students of the HMW school and junior college that is close to the spot of the fire were evacuated sent to a nearby civic school after the fire. The students had their FYBcom examinations today, which had to be postponed.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh state government has issued a tender of ₹ 700 crore for procuring coal from foreign countries to fulfil the demand for power, especially in the agriculture sector. In MP, there is a demand for 12,000 MW of power but the MP power distribution company is able to supply only 10,500 MW. National Thermal Power Corporation Limited will buy 7.5 lakh metric tonnes of coal on behalf of the MP government.

Chandigarh man held with 540 gm heroin
The crime branch of Chandigarh Police arrested a 22-year-old man for carrying 540 gm heroin near Indian Oil Petrol Pump in Industrial Area, Phase 2, on Thursday night. In another case, the crime branch of Panchkula police nabbed a 23-year-old man for possessing 8.5 gm heroin in Sector 23 on Thursday evening.
