How does arming teachers protect your grandparents while shopping at the grocery store?

Last week when children were shot in school, Republicans said arm the teachers. Yesterday, when a hospital was attacked, it was arm the doctors. But when the white supremacist shot up a black grocery store you sure didn’t hear Republicans say arm the black people.

The cowardly paralysis of the police in Uvalde has, sadly, made the slogan “Don’t mess with Texas” the biggest laugh line of the year.

Seems like people always forget the “well-regulated” part of the 2nd Amendment.

Of course, this is the best country in the world. But what good does it do all of us if we can’t protect lives, especially of our children?

Every time you complain about gas prices you should remember that a bipartisan bill to stop price gouging gas was passed in the house in January. Every Republican in the senate voted against it and the bill failed. Now you know who is at fault for the high price of gas.

Virtually every Republican in Congress has voted against baby formula, child tax credits, cheaper gas, cheaper insulin. Stimulus checks, background checks, veteran cancer care, fair elections, and ending domestic terrorism. The GOP is cruel, incompetent and doesn’t give a darn about you.

Last day of school. Happy kids. Let’s go outside and play. Can’t. The orchard fired up their jet blower sprayer at 3 p.m. just as school let out and kids were getting home. I’m sure just because the driver running the machine wears protective clothing doesn’t mean the spray could hurt the kids enjoying being home for the summer. Any of the Luke family, who own the orchard, live downwind from this powder blowing in the wind sometimes twice a week? Doubt it. I like going there and picking apples when the time comes. I think they are good for the local economy. The staff is friendly and the eats are great, but it seems like common sense doesn’t matter much these days.

Mayor McDermott was quoted in re his COVID infection: “Dude, I didn’t see anybody for five days. Like, literally, I was locked in my room,” McDermott said. “That sucked, dude.” Is this the type of language that one would expect from someone who aspires to become a U.S. Senator from Indiana? As one who is not running for Indiana Senator, I would like to ask, Dude, is this how the law school at the University of Notre Dame prepared you to speak? I know that the Senate has been debased by some of the Republican clowns currently serving. I would vote for a potato before I would vote for Braun or Young, but seriously could the Indiana Dems have found an articulate and intelligent nominee?

First of all, Gail Collins’ article said we should ban assault rifles, NOT all guns. Second, it was on the OPINION page, it was not detailing what every Democrat wants. Get your facts straight.

Many Republicans have fully endorsed lying as a campaign strategy. Some examples are as follows: The election was stolen. Democrats want to ban all guns. Democrats will raise your taxes. Democrats want open borders. Democrats are weak on crime. I could go on. Most Republicans can distinguish between the truth and a lie. However, they know that over 60% of the public believe it is okay to lie at times, and if the lie is repeated consistently enough, many will believe it! They believe lying can help win elections. Please remember, “Every lie is two lies, the one we tell others and the one we tell ourselves to justify the lie.” We all should understand each time a lie is spread, we place another cloud over that “shining city on a hill.”
