Honda showed off nine modified 2015 Fit hatchbacks at the 2014 SEMA show this week, including six built by some of the nation's top tuners. In addition, the aftermarket association named the 2015 Honda Fit hatchback the year's Hottest Sport Compact. Back in August, Honda kicked off the 2015 Fit Performance Project (#ProjectFit) on Tumblr, where fans of the compact hatchback could follow the six tuner builds and vote for their favorite.
A modified 2015 Honda Fit from Tjin Edition was voted as the Fan Favorite in the competition and was showcased in Honda's booth at SEMA. The other five build teams included Bisimoto Engineering, Kontrabrands, MAD Industries, Spoon Sports USA, and Kenny Vinces. Three other modified 2015 Honda Fit hatchbacks can also be seen at Honda's show space, including a Fit B-Spec race car from Honda Performance Development (HPD), a Fit with available dealer-installed Honda Genuine Accessories, and finally a second Fit tuned by Bismoto for dealer Norm Reeves Honda.
The Fan Favorite Kylie Tjin Special Edition 2015 Honda Fit has been modified with a custom-fabricated wide-body kit including fender flares by Josh Freeman and custom Axalta paint by L&R Auto body. Other exterior bits include custom Coplus headlights, fog lights and front lip, JDM red H emblems, and a Webasto sunroof. The Tjin Edition Fit rides on an Airrex air suspension and a set of 18-inch iForged wheels with a brushed gunmetal finish wrapped in 215/35R18 Falken FK453 tires. Helping the show car stop are Baer front brakes with six-piston calipers finished in Hot Pink, along with 14-inch rotors with custom brackets and brake lines. Inside, the interior has been modified with custom Katzkin pieces on the front and rear seats, door panels and center console. Other interior bits include basketball and sporting equipment from SoCal Elite 94Fifty. The audio system consists of Sony speakers, subwoofer, and amplifiers, an Optima battery and Scosche wiring and mount. The lone performance upgrade is a Bismoto Pulse Chamber.
The highlight of the Bismoto 2015 Honda Fit is the custom turbocharger setup good for a claimed 480 hp (410.6 whp). Powertrain modifications include a Turbonetics TNX-20 Turbo, wastegate, and blowoff valve. Custom Bismoto pieces include springs and titanium retainers, Bismoto-Web Level 2.4 camshaft, cat-back exhaust system, MLS gasket, intake heat shielding gasket and reservoir socks. Other performance parts include Arias pistons, ARP headstuds and bolts, Burns stainless muffler, Deatschwerks 1000cc injectors, Golden Eagle sleeves and intake, R&R steel rods, NGK Iridium spark plugs, RacePak IQ3 dash, a Rogue Racing heavy-duty race harness, an Action 2MS clutch, and more. Charge air is cooled by a Spearco intercooler with Driftmotion aluminum piping. The turbo setup is controlled by an AEM Electronics Infinity 6 ECU, boost controller and fuel pressure regulator, and 320LPH E85 Fuel Pump.
The chassis and suspension have been upgraded with a Bismoto five-lug conversion and a BuddyClub four-piston big brake kit with Bismoto brake mounts. A set of BuddyClub 17x7.5-inch F91 wheels are wrapped in Toyo R888 tires. A coil-over suspension and sway bars from Progress help keep the car planted in turns.
The Kontrabrands A.M.L. 2015 Honda Fit is built for an Active Metropolitan Lifestyle, according to the tuner. Performance mods are limited to a Greddy 2.5-inch full cat-back stainless steel exhaust system. Chassis and suspension modifications consist of TEIN Street Flex coil-overs and an EDFC Active Pro electronic damping system with GPS sensor. A set of Wilwood Forged Dynalite front brakes with four-piston calipers and 12.2-inch drilled and slotted rotors handled stopping duty.
The exterior has been enhanced with a Moulin Rouge paint color from DTM Autobody, a Mugen front lip spoiler and side skirts, and Honda OEM rear mud guards. The modified 2015 Fit sits on a set of SSR Professor SP1 wheels in S.B.C. (Super Black Coat) with red SSR GT forged lug nuts and wrapped by a set of 215/35R18 Falken FK453 tires. Interior upgrades include Sparco R100 reclining front seats with custom interior upholstery, Sparco REFLEX SHRT pedal set, Mugen shift knob, and a Design Craft Fabrication custom bicycle mount for a Greddy Fixie bicycle. The audio system consists of Clarion audio components including 260-watt 6.5-inch coaxial two-way front and rear door speakers, a micro size four-channel full range amplifier, and a 150-watt amplified subwoofer.
The MAD Industries 2015 Honda Fit has been modified to carry a matching 2015 Honda Grom motorcycle. While the powertrain is untouched, this 2015 Fit features Eibach Pro Kit 1.5-inch lowering springs, charcoal MGP brake caliper covers with the MAD logo, and Rotiform 19x8-inch directional IND-t two-piece forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Nero 225/35ZR19 tires. The exterior features Jet Black and charcoal paint with gold details. Other exterior mods include PIAA Plasma Yellow fog lamp bulbs, gold window tint from Madico, and LightWurkz HID projector headlights, custom LED DRLs and matte black headlight housings.
Inside, the MAD Industries 2015 Honda Fit features Katzkin Leather in Midnight Tuscany with Raven Black perforated Suedezkin inserts and charcoal stitching. The door panels get Bone Suedezkin with Tuscany accents. The headliner, pillars, and package tray are covered in Bone UltraFabrics material. Other interior bits include SRP Racing pedals, Tera LED interior lighting, and Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers. MACs Straps motorcycle tie-downs secure the Honda Grom.
The Spoon Sports Super Taikyu 2015 Honda Fit gets the classic Spoon livery, and features several Spoon Sports performance mods including an air cleaner, intake manifold, low-temp thermostat, magnetic drain bolts, oil filter, radiator, spark plugs, Super Taikyu titanium exhaust, Veturi throttle body, and yellow valve cover. There's also a Kinetic custom lithium battery tray in the engine bay. Chassis and suspension bits include Spoon Sports brake lines and brake pads, monoblock calipers, Full Spec dampers, subframe rigid collars, and one-off front rotors. Spoon also gets a JDM Honda rear disc brake conversion with Japan-spec rear subframe.
The exterior features Spoon Sports aero mirrors, wheel nuts, windshield wipers, and one-off carbon Kevlar sunroof delete. Other exterior mods include a JDM Honda Fit RS front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, roof spoiler, front grille, and emblems. For lighting, the hatch gets the full JDM treatment with Japanese-market Honda LED projector headlights, LED front marker lights, and taillights. The Spoon Sports Super Taikyu 2015 Honda Fit rides on a set of 15x7-inch Rays Volk Racing CE28 Club Racer wheels wrapped in Yokohama ADVAN 190/580-15 tires. The paint is from PPG and Signature Autobody. Interior modifications include Spoon Sports blue wide rear view mirror, carbon bucket seats, shift know, steering boss and steering wheel, Super Taikyu roll cage and one-off carbon door panels, and a Takata Racing seat belt harness.
Power for the Kenny Vinces 2015 Honda Fit has been enhanced by a Fulltime Fabrication custom turbo kit based around a BorgWarner EFR6258 Turbocharger with velocity stack. Fulltime Fabrication also provided a custom intake manifold, side dump tube, and 3.0-inch exhaust. Other mods include a Vibrant 2.5-inch intake, Tial 44mm MVR wastegate and blowoff valve, and a Nitrous Express 4 Fogger Piranha direct port System and N-Tercooler Sprayer and a pair of five-pound nitrous bottles. Dress-up pieces include a custom silver valve cover, Downstar billet oil cap and engine dress-up kit, and ceramic-coated exhaust and manifold, dunk tube, and downpipe by Espos Power Coating.
The body has been painted Diesel Smoke with Glamour Clear paint. Exterior mods include a Kenny V. front lip spoiler, custom side skirts, Carbon Fiber Elements duckbill wing, custom molded ABS rear diffusor, and Willy custom fiberglass pocket flares. Lightwerkz retrofitted the stock headlights with HIDs. The Kenny Vinces 2015 Honda Fit rides on a set of XXR531 wheels measuring 17x9-inch up front with 205/40R17 tires and 17x10-inch wheels with 235/40RT17 tires out back. Stopping duties are handled by a set of WP Pro Brakes L6 Caliper 12.3" Sawblade Rotors up front.
Inside, there is a set of Takata Racing Race Pro LE FIA bucket seats up front with Takata race harness for the driver and a street belt for the passenger. Other safety equipment includes a four-point roll cage with nitrous bottle mounts. The interior features custom red leather and black stitching throughout as well as a black suede headliner, shade and sun visors, Mugen pedals, Downstar shift knob, and custom fiberglass door panels with Kicker Audio component speakers.
The HPD 2015 Honda Fit B-SPEC Concept Race Car from Honda Performance Development is built for SCCA club racing, World Challenge, and Canadian Touring Car B-SPEC rules for the 2015 season. Performance modifications include an HPD air filter, air-conditioning delete belt and stainless steel exhaust. The suspension has been upgraded with an HPD coil-over kit with race springs and braided stainless brake lines, front brake pads, a TR Motorsports C1 wheels with BFG R1 racing tires. The body has been wrapped by One 11 Ink. Inside, there is a Sparco racing seat and racing steering wheel with quick release, Schroth driver restraint system and a six-point roll cage.
In addition to the HPD 2015 Honda Fit B-SPEC Concept Race Car, Bismoto also built a spec race car. The Bisimoto 2015 Honda Fit Spec Car features a Bisimoto exhaust pulse chamber system and MLS gasket, NGK Iridium spark plugs, PurOl Elite Series synthetic oil, TurboHot coatings, and Action 1MS clutch. The Bismoto spec car features a BuddyClub Racing coil-over suspension as well as 17x7.5-inch BuddyClub P1 racing wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 tires. The exterior features an Extreme Autowerks wrap with a Denmatic design scheme and Rhythms Powdercoating. Other mods include Bisimoto reservoir socks and a BuddyClub short shifter.
