Procures 10 hand-held fogging machines at a cost of Rs 5.15 lakhs

Planning to procure additional 50 fogging machines

KARIMNAGAR: With the onset of monsoons and seasonal diseases on the prowl such as dengue and malaria etc, the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar authorities have embarked upon an ambitious task of launching fogging operations to check the mosquito menace in the town.

Accordingly, Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar formally launched 10 hand-held fogging machines purchased at a cost of Rs 5.15 lakhs in the MCK office on Thursday (July 28). He had personally operated the fogging machine and instructed the municipal staff to take up fogging operations in all the municipal divisions daily.

The MCK was having two truck-mounted fogging machines and six-rickshaw mounted fogging machines. In order to ensure that each municipal division was having one hand-held fogging machine to launch a drive against the mosquito menace, the Minister said that they had procured 10 fogging machines now and additional 50 machines would be procured soon to ensure that there were continuous fogging operations during this season to check mosquito menace and spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

He also said that they had launched anti-larval operations in the water stagnated areas in the town in coordination with the medical and health department. Mayor Y Sunil Rao, municipal commissioner Seva Islavath, municipal corporators and others were also present.
