SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Stylists at Bristol Hairdressing scramble to fit in as many appoints this Tuesday before the shop has to close once again due to COVID 19 restrictions.
“We are in shock,” said Cole King, owner of the salon. She said the last 3 1/2 months have been frustrating for her and her husband to adapt to the constant changes.
“It’s a feeling of panic and fear… and let me be clear, we practice social distancing (have met all the requirements). I want to keep everybody safe.”
They’ve invested a lot of time and money to meet the COVID19 safety guidelines to be open like gearing up with different PPE and increasing sanitation. “We have a fogger that’s supposed to sanitize our air in our air filtration system. supposed to sanitize our air in our air filtration system.”
Other hair salons, like Rock A Betties in El Cajon, have not been able to survived the changes. After 16 years, it’s no more.
The owner of Bristol Hairdressing tarted up a group called Support Your Local Hairdresser. It’s a place where hair professionals get together online talk about ideas and give each other advice and it all stems from the feeling that ‘hairdressing is not a crime.’
But that is how King and other hair professionals are feeling these days. In the meantime, she will try to stand strong and keep the faith.
KUSI’s Elizabeth Alvarez spoke with the owners on Good Morning San Diego.
